Pakistan's Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar underlined her country's commitment for "friendly, cooperative and good" neighbourly relations with India as she met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and handed over an invitation to him from Yousuf Raza Gilani.

As the RDR leader and candidate, he was a candidate in the 2010 Ivorian presidential election, where he was one of the top two candidates in the first round of voting. In the second round, he faced incumbent Laurent Gbagbo; Ouattara asserted that he won the election. Gbagbo had not accepted this claim, leading to a major political crisis in the nation, which ended with Gbagbo's capture and arrest on 11 April 2011.
